Being designed to first year Arabic language students, the module is named in the canvas “Foreign Language: Written and Oral Expressionˮ. However, a closer look at it reveals that it is basically about English Grammar. The reason might be that students at any level of study, when they speak or write, their discourse needs to be grammatically well-structured and accurate in order to be clear.

This module is mainly concerned with helping first year Arabic language students develop knowledge of basic grammar rules and structures in English. It focuses on essential grammar topics, such as parts of speech, tenses and sentence structure. This would permit students to have a solid foundation in English by understanding how sentences are formed in English and how grammar functions in communication.
